Elden Ring: Fog Rift Catacombs
Fog Rift Catacombs is one of the minor dungeons you will encounter in Elden Ring as part of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. It is an optional dungeon that holds various treasures and enemies, providing a challenge with a combination of traps, enemies, and environmental hazards. Below is a guide to help you navigate the dungeon, find all of its treasures, and defeat its enemies.
How to Get to Fog Rift Catacombs
Location:
The Fog Rift Catacombs are located in the Scadu Altus region. To reach it, start at the Castle Front site of Grace.
Directions:
Head northwest from the Castle Front site of Grace, passing through the fortifications beneath the Fog Rift Fort, where you'll face several Messmer soldiers.
Push through deeper into the valley, where fog begins to fill the screen, and pass the graves, where Vulgar Militia will attempt to attack you with their sickles and poison projectiles.
At the base of the valley, you'll find the entrance to the Fog Rift Catacombs, which are well-lit within the northern cliff face. Enter the catacombs and ride the elevator down to reach the Site of Grace at the bottom.
Fog Rift Catacombs Walkthrough
Stone Imp Ambush:
Enter the tunnel and a Stone Imp will appear in the far corner. Defeat it, and loot the corpse in the northeast for a Grave Glovewort 1.
Continue down the tunnel to the west, leading to a large room with multiple Stone Imps. Be cautious, as stepping into this room will trigger a spiked ceiling to collapse.
Step back to bait the ceiling, killing the roaming Imp in the process. Once it lifts, rush into the alcove on the left side of the room.
Navigating the Spiked Ceiling Room:
When the ceiling rises again, run out to the west. Another Imp will drop from above.
In the next room, a spellcaster will cast slow-moving projectiles that splinter and rebound off surfaces. Run beneath the walkway to avoid the spells.
An Imp will spring out from the right. Deal with it and then grab the Yellow Fulgurbloom plant in the northwest corner.
Choosing a Path:
Go down the stairs where an Imp will drop from above. After defeating it, you'll have two paths to choose from:
East Path: Two Imps guard a corpse. After defeating them, loot the corpse for the Ancient Dragon Knight's Cookbook 1.
West Path: Head west, and as you descend the steps, the spiked ceiling will collapse again. You can either wait for it to lift or jump on top of it as it rises.
Top of the Ceiling:
Get on top of the ceiling and run across to reach a platform with a Yellow Fulgurbloom and a corpse containing x3 Knot Resin.
Wait for the ceiling to rise again, then run across it to reach the room to the south.
Defeat the spellcaster and head upstairs to the east to face two Messmer soldiers and a black knight. Lure the soldiers away to deal with them separately, then sneak up behind the black knight for a visceral attack.
Looting and Backtracking:
After clearing the room, pick up the Great Ghost Glovewort from the floor.
Backtrack to the earlier section with the spiked ceiling, drop down onto it, and wait for it to rise. Time it correctly to drop down and enter the tunnel to the east, where another Imp will ambush you. Loot a Yellow Fulgurbloom in the process.
In the northwest corner, climb a ladder to reach an earlier section of the dungeon.
Progressing Further:
Once again, wait for the spiked ceiling to rise and cross it to the west. Loot the corpse for x2 Dragonbolt Grease if possible.
Ride the next elevator down and proceed forward to find a fire-breathing Imp just to the left. As you descend the steps, another Imp will await, which you can ambush from above.
Final Rooms:
In the covered section, another Yellow Fulgurbloom awaits, and another Imp will leap out at you. Defeat it, then head to the next room to the west, where a spellcaster and another Imp will drop from the ceiling. Loot the corpse for Grave Glovewort 2.
Head south to a giant room with a spellcaster at the far end. Move incrementally to avoid the spiked ceiling, baiting it to drop, then rush to the alcoves to avoid getting hit.
Tips for Fog Rift Catacombs:
Spiked Ceiling Hazards: The spiked ceilings are a major hazard throughout this dungeon. Use the environment to your advantage by baiting them to drop before advancing.
Imps and Spellcasters: The dungeon is filled with Stone Imps, and spellcasters that use slow-moving projectiles. Take care to deal with each enemy strategically, especially when multiple enemies are present.
Looting Opportunities: Explore each room thoroughly for loot such as Grave Gloveworts, Dragonbolt Grease, and Fulgurbloom plants to enhance your progress in the dungeon.
