Path of Exile 2: Doryani Boss Guide - Act 3

Doryani, the final boss in Path of Exile 2 Act 3, is a challenging fight, transitioning from his form as Doryani, Royal Thaumaturge into his second form, Doryani's Triumph. This guide will provide strategies for both melee and ranged characters to help you prepare for this fight.

Location of Doryani

Doryani is located in The Testing Pit within The Black Chambers. To access the Black Chambers, you'll need to go through Aggorat after defeating Viper Napuatzi in Utzaal. Once in the Black Chambers, look for bridges coming up out of the water leading you to Doryani's arena.

In this area, you can also find two passive skill points by locating the Sacrificial Heart in Utzaal and bringing it to the Sacrificial Altar in Aggorat.

Preparation

Before tackling Doryani, ensure you are at least level 45 or higher. If you're struggling, upgrading your gear is critical, particularly with resistances, armor, energy shield, and evasion. Doryani deals primarily Fire and Chaos damage, so equipping Charms or rings with resistance to these types will greatly benefit you.

Additionally, having increased Movement Speed from either boots or passives will be useful in avoiding his devastating attacks.

Phase 1: Doryani, Royal Thaumaturge

In this phase, Doryani attacks with powerful spells and ancient equipment. Staying close to his back is generally safe, but avoid his front, especially when he's about to use AoE skills.

Key Attacks:

Lightning Spray: Doryani shoots lightning from his hand that tracks you. While not doing significant damage, it's best to avoid it.

Fire Shot: Fires a blast of fire. It does moderate damage, so if you have decent Fire Resistance, you can stay in and deal damage.

Charged Blast: A charged Chaos energy blast with a cone effect at the end. Dodge left or right to avoid this attack.

Laser Altar: When Doryani's health reaches 75%, a rotating altar in the middle of the arena will emit laser beams, dealing significant Chaos damage. Look for gaps to dodge through.

Fire Orbs: These orbs deal damage over time when nearby and explode for massive damage if you're too close. Stay at a distance if they're near Doryani.

Overhead Bolts: Doryani summons rain bolts from above, which are extremely damaging. Back away and deal damage from a safe distance.

Tips for Phase 1:

Avoid the Fire Orbs and Overhead Bolts.

Keep close to his back and back away when AoE moves are about to happen.

Use skills like Flammability to help with his Fire resistance.

Phase 2: Doryani's Triumph (Mech Form)

Back Lasers: Spinning lasers from the back of the mech. Circle in the direction Doryani is spinning to stay ahead of the lasers.

Overhead Cannon: Doryani summons a laser cannon that rains down shots from above. Keep track of where the cannon is aiming to avoid getting hit.

Mech Explosion: Doryani detaches from the mech for a brief period, and the mech will explode. Roll backward to the arena's edge to avoid this.

Mech Slam: The mech may spin in the air before slamming down, dealing devastating damage. Stay near the edges of the AoE markers, but not at the very back, and roll just before impact.

Fire Beam: A fire beam raining down from above. Avoid it by staying out of its path.

Lightning Strikes: Lightning will periodically rain down in fixed spots. Stay out of these areas to avoid damage.

Lightning Chase: Lightning will follow you around the arena. Keep moving in a circular motion to avoid the lightning.

Melee Strategy

Melee characters will need to stay close to Doryani throughout both phases, as staying too far away will cause you to miss important hits.

In phase one, avoid Fire Orbs and Overhead Bolts by staying near Doryani's back. If your build has enough Chaos and Fire resistance, you can tank a lot of his hits. In phase two, skills like Leap Slam or Vaulting Impact can help you escape dangerous situations like the mech's slam attacks. Stay close, but be ready to roll away when the mech is about to slam.

The key challenge in phase two will be avoiding Back Lasers and Lightning Chase. Stay mobile, avoid using long animations, and focus on whittling Doryani down slowly but surely.

Ranged Strategy

Ranged characters will also benefit from staying close, but you'll need to be more cautious in managing your Energy Shield. If your shield is down in phase one, back up and regain it, but always move back into range to deal damage. Phase two will be more challenging for ranged builds, especially if you're relying on minions, as they'll likely be destroyed quickly.

For ranged attacks, use your AoE damage abilities in phase one (such as Flame Wall) while avoiding Fire Orbs and Overhead Bolts.
